Elvis Costello and the Attractions
Royalty Theatre, London
November 23rd 1986

Another mp3 BBC 'In Concert' recording.
Great sound, great gig.
Declan's vocal style reminds me of Phil Lynott at times
and Steve Nieve's excellent keyborad playing
can send the band into full-on Stranglres mode.
I think Alice Cooper's 'Lost in America'
is a rip-off of 'Pump It Up'.

I remember a day in the late 70s.
I was browsing through the racks in a local record shop.
They had one of those huge book-style carousel things
with posters of pop/rock bands.
Three girls around my age were leafing through the posters.
They suddenly stopped and one said
"mmm...Elvis Costello, he's fit"
'Fit' for any who do not know
means, in this context, sexually attractive.
I was stunned.
This weedy speccy nerd was fit?
And there was  I cursed with the body of Adonis!!!
There was no hope for me obviously.
Anyhow here is Elvis C. AKA Declan Patrick MacManus
doing the Desert Island Discs thing.
