Another song salvaged from an old cassette.

I can tell I was obsessed with Zappa when I wrote this.

Not a bad attempt at emulating Frank's 70s SG/wah-wah sound.

If I tried to sing this now I'd burst a blood vessel.

It's an old 'bedroom' recording.

My youngest daughter said this album is shit.

It's a concept album based on my troubled youth (I've decided)

..;but then again...aren't they all?

It's been 35 years since the last Titus Luxor album.

It won't be anything like this :)

The title track was written for Peter Gabriel to sing

but he wasn't available so I sang it.

Ophelia was written for Freddie Mercury to sing

but he wasn't available so I sang it.

Under The Soil was written for Alice Cooper to sing

I sometimes visit some dubious Russian websites.

Some things on my blog are sourced from these places.

I've noticed they rip me off too...have my bootlegs etc.

I'm fine with this reciprocal stealing.

But I was overjoyed to see they have two of my albums.

Not sure why these two but hey...I'll take it.

Lost World gets a vote of 10/10 (OK only one voter)

Ridicularum has an average of 9/10 fron three votes...not bad!

Oh, and I'm also overjoyed to be classed as 'Progressive Rock'

Morse Code (circa 1985)

This is an instrumental from an old tape.

I was really into Dixie Dregs at the time and this was my tribute/rip-off.

The title is a reference to Steve Morse.

My first band used to play a version of this which was quite ambitious looking back.

The Lost World (1987)

Another album from a time when I was heavily into Zappa/Steve Vai's Flexible.

Some of it is OK, other parts not so good.

It's a thin line between avant garde and just plain shit.

The original cassette version had three more tracks and a different running order:

That yellowed sellotape makes me feel old :}

The later albums were a sell-out compared to some of this stuff.

I was still 'learning my trade' and it wasn't exactly Abbey bloody Road:

Lethe-wards

This is an old thing from a time when I was writing

and recording at a frantic pace and most of the stuff was not saved.

Around 1985 I'd guess.

This one survived.

It's just a 2 minute instrumental idea and it sounds a bit like 70s Genesis

(I think in retrospective).

The title/melancholy mood was a homage to 'Ode to a Nightingale' by John Keats:

My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains

  My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk,

Or emptied some dull opiate to the drains

  One minute past, and Lethe-wards had sunk

I am very ill with a cold at the moment.

Haven't left the house for days and won't be venturing far anytime soon.

To pass the time I made a mash-up of Chicago vs. Fat Larry's Band.

In the late 2000s I was playing around with a digital recording studio.

Just figuring out how it worked really.

I composed this short bluesy instrumental piece to experiment on.

C1985

This is an old thing off a shitty cassette.

Me in my yoof.

There is a major nod to Nazereth's version of Joni Mitchell's 'This Flight Tonight'

but it's mainly based on my efforts to copy Buck Dharma.

Bits of Astronomy were shamelessly stolen.

My fav part is where I fluked the lead guitar sounding almost like a violin.

I used a Vantage guitar a bit like the one in the picture

and an Aria Pro II bass (I think).

I'd guess this album was done around 1986/87.

I'm really not sure.

Contains a version of Cloud Free Paradise

which is (almost) a prog epic.

I reccomend at least 70% volume,

let the fucker breathe.
