Max Webster
Gasworks Tavern
Toronto, ON, Canada
December 22nd 1976

Remastered soundboard.
There are a few cuts but overall it's quite good.
I used patching and devilish trickery to make it flow reasonably smoothly.
Some great Zappa-esque guitar from Kim Mitchell.
Highly recommended.

Titus

Max Webster
Thunderbird Motor Inn
Thunder Bay, ON
September 25th 1975

Reposted from May 2024

Remastered soundboard.
A very nice recording of prototype Max which predates the debut album.
Strange that they were playing Research/Cats so early.
I have a couple of Max recordings I've never got around to posting.
They are probably lesser quality/incomplete
but Terry's death has made me think I should revisit those and share them.
Any Max is good!

There was a cut in the tape so we lost the beginning of 'Toronto Tontos'.
I just heard that Terry Watkinson died on Saturday.
Here's another show to celebrate his life and music.

Remastered soundboard.
Some cuts and sound issues but it's generally OK.
It was fairly obvious by this point that Kim was about to embark on a solo career.
They completed a tour supporting Rush before the split
but this is believed to be their last headline show.

Remastered audince recording.
Max Webster opening for Styx on their Grand Illusion tour.
It takes a minute for the taper to get a good level.
I've tried to mitigate this poor start as much as possible.
In general it is a reasonably listenable bootleg.

It's pretty good after that.

The talking/taking the piss between songs are Rush crew members.

Max Webster
Gasworks Tavern
Toronto, ON
September 2nd 1975

Remastered soundboard.
Live at the Gasworks
...a venue that looks like it could tell a few tales.
The end section of Peaches sounds like Samla Mammas Manna,
as do parts of Mash Moon in Hawaii,
Hard to categorise Max Webster.
A mix of Frank Zappa and Todd Rundgren?

Max Webster
Barrie, Ontario
May 10th 1980

Live footage from 'The New Music' TV/radio simulcast.
This DVD was sourced from an old VHS tape
so the picture quality is much as you'd expect.
Still very watchable though and the sound is OK.

Terry Watkinson was on hiatus at this point
so ex-Rainbow man David Stone handles the keyboards.
