Wishbone Ash
Ashcon @ Sea
sailing from Margaritaville
Isla Cozumel, Mexico
September 1st 2001

Remastered audience recording (25th anniversary)
Couldn't find much info about this cruise.
Excellent show as always from WA.
The source had quite a few mic/loose connection noise moments
but I managed to eliminate all the really bad ones.

For anyone interested in the remastering results
there's a link to a small contrast file
with a before and after snippet from 'Living Proof'.

Hosted by The Guess Who with M.C. Wolfman Jack.

Slade, Sha Na Na, Wishbone Ash, David Essex, Leo Kottke and Judi Pulver.

Really good vintage video in decent quality.

BBC Studio Sessions 1971-1972

Remastered FM.
The last post for 2025.
From a-rebroadcast on Alan 'Fluff' Freeman's Saturday Rock Show.
The bonus track is off an old E.P.
The songs from that E.P. have been released in various forms
but the exact source seems to be unclear.
'unknown venue' - Memphis August 21st 1972
or Memphis WCNK Studios August 24th 1972
are two of the potential options.

Wishbone Ash
DVD with remastered audio

This is a French TV show first broadcast on January 10th 1973.
The footage is from  a gig at the Rainbow Theatre in London
which took place on November 18th 1972.
It's only 23 minutes long and we don't get the full songs
but I thought some of you might like a copy.
I've seen a few of these old 'filmed from behind the band' French TV productions
and I'm not sure why they did that.

La cendre de l'os à souhait? :)

Remastered soundboard.
Very good quality but lacks a bit of room-ambience
as many SBDs do to my ears.
OK, I'm being picky!
This is a nice one for those who don't like
the rough and ready audience recordings
for which I have a, perverted, fondness.

Really good quality SBD here.
Just a couple of minor things fixed but otherwise untouched.
The separation and balance is spot on.
Another venue that is, I believe, no longer in business.

Wishbone Ash
Capitol Theatre

Reposted from November 2022

The classic early line up. Another nice SBD.
It's from a double bill with Climax Blues Band.
Peter Haycock and Colin Cooper of CBB
sit in on guitar and sax respectively for the final song.
The 24 minute 'Phoenix' is an epic.
The version on 'Live Dates' clocks in at a paltry 17 minutes :)
I only have this in mp3 format.
There is/was a version over on Soundaboard which didn't have the full set.
The Capitol Theatre opened in 1921 as a "vaudeville house". (sounds saucy!)
It closed it's doors in 1989 and was demolished two years later.
The site is now a shopping mall.
George Orwell would be thrilled.

Wishbone Ash
Glasgow Apollo
November 19th 1976

Originally from John Peel's show, this copy is taken from
a later re-broadcast by Alan 'Fluff' Freeman.
Unfortunately there was a section of bad interference
during Lorelei which I opted to remove.
We lost a couple of bars and my splice is not perfect
but I wanted to preserve as much as possible.
The bad section was also the loudest part
so once it was eradicated the whole thing could be re-normalised.
Only 30 minutes long but the sound quality is top notch.

Wishbone Ash
Summerfest
Milwaukee, USA
July 2nd 2003

This was such a dry/flat SBD
that I actually added some reverb during the remastering process.
Something I've never done before (in public)
It's fairly subtle so don't get all 'Yeah I can tell' cocky about it.
Might not be to everyone's taste
but I felt it would benefit from some ambience/humanity
and I'm nothing if not ambient/human.
I believe Roger Filgate (a WA member in the 90s) had been drafted in,
at short notice, to be Andy Powell's guitar partner.
He does a good job but, occasionally,
there are hints that he may have lacked rehearsal time.

A short but sweet FM remaster.
It's only 25 minutes long and I have included the source files.
So you can choose which one you prefer.
I suspect this may be the entire set as they are, presumably,
the opening act of this extensive, and rather odd, line-up:

I suppose it was a something-for-everyone approach.
David Essex for your Nan.
£7.50 for the best seats.

This one's a remastered audience recording
so, maybe, not as good as the two soundboards
although it sounds quite decent to my ears.
Don't be too put off by the loud talking during the intro.
Once the band start there is little evidence of chatting.
Another from my mp3 files.
