Ike & Tina steal the show.

I'd suggest a lack of education.

Beat Club
Episode 62
December 31st 1970

New Year's Eve 1970...hmmm, got me reminiscing.
My Mum would exit via the back door just before midnight.
Many others of her generation would do the same
before navigating their way to the front of their houses.
After the stroke of midnight/neighbourly good wishes
they would then re-enter via the front door.
This tradition was "bringing in the New Year"..it died out.

The Wild Man Fischer/Zappa clip alone is worth the download
but the whole episode is excellent IMO.

UFO - Boogie
The Move  - When Alice Comes Back to the Farm"" and/or ""Brontosaurus
Warm Dust - Indian Ropeman/Worm Dance

Some sections on David Peel in this episode who's album 'The Pope Smokes Dope'
was produced by John Lennon making it a collector's item for Lennon/Beatles fans.
Peel has connections to Kevin Michael 'GG' Allin (born Jesus Christ Allin)
who is/was...er...shall we say interesting?
Worth a wiki.

Some good clips but the meandering format is a bit much.
Even with my wife translating I struggle to understand

Early Mott/Broughtons makes up for it though.

At last we get some colour footage.
Excellent selection on this edition.

There is a weird thing that seems to be about hair

Episode 50
December 31st 1969

I said this was the first episode in colour.
That was not correct!
I won't say that again until I actually see one in colour.
No rubbish on this one IMO.
Eddie Hardin and Terry Reid are legends.
Dave Dee is starting to annoy me already
and his ex-buddies get a slot on the show.
I really like their song which annoys me even more.
Steamhammer are interesting. Steve Jolliffe joined them
after being in an early incarnation of Tangerine Dream.
Steve rejoined Tangs in 1978 for the Cyclone album and subsequent tour
which I saw in Manchester.
I had a seat close to the stage which was great
but I came out with a stiff neck from twisting my head around
to look at the laser patterns they were shooting onto the ceiling.
I remember Edgar Froese playing guitar inide a circular 'cage'
whose bars were green laser beams.
regards
Titus

Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich - Tonight Today

September 27th 1969

This is the first episode from the 5th series.
Dave Dee is Uschi's new co-host
It starts with a piece about Lulu marrying into the BeeGees
with which they seem obsessed.
The format has changed and here we get a lengthy
Who section (not live) promoting 'Tommy'
plus Fat Mattress, Blind Faith, Vanilla Fudge
and footage from the Isle of Wight festival.
Trying an alternative storage site with this one.

Episode 46
August 30th 1969

This is the last episode of the 4th series
and it marks the final show with Dave Lee Travis.
In series five Uschi's co-host is Dave Dee.
By my calculations Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich
have appeared on Beat Club a record breaking 12 times.
I'm beginning to wonder if Dave Dee
has compromising pictures of the show's producers.
