Stone Henge is rubbish.

It always was and nowadays it's even worse.

They built a 'visitor centre' , charge you a fortune

and you will not be allowed to touch the stones.

Avebury (pictured above) is far better.

If you are interested in Neolithic sites

you can go there and explore for free.

It runs rings round Stone Henge (see what I did there?)

I've been a couple of times and loved it.

My interest was first sparked by the 1977 TV series

'Children of the Stones' with the wonderful Iain Cuthbertson.

It was aimed at children but I still enjoy it as an adult.

Worth it for the haunting theme music alone!
