The Long and the Short and the Tall 1961
An old favourite based on a 1959 play with the same name, by Willis Hall.
It is an early example of a war film that has sympathies with the enemy
as opposed to the usual gung-ho propaganda stuff.
A young David McCallum is part of the cast
who shot to fame as Illya Kuryakin in The Man from U.N.C.L.E
and, of course, for his role in Colditz.
