The Time Machine
If I had a time machine, musically speaking,
I'd go to all the Gabriel era Genesis gigs.
And Hawkwind on their Space Ritual tour/countless others.
I was talking to a friend/workmate who is around ten years my junior
and asked him what his all-time 'would have loved to see' thing was.
He said it was Rainbow during the 'On Stage' era.
I said "Oh, I saw them in 77, elbows on the stage in front of Ritchie".
He was flabbergasted!
Later the same day I was talikng to another workmate.
Ten years senior to me.
We were talking about gigs.
He told me he saw Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett at the UFO club in 1967.
I was flabbergasted!
One of my daughters turns 25 tomorrow :)
Where would you go in your musical time machine?
regards
Titus
There's lots of bands I'd loved to have caught in their pomp... mid 70's Funkadelic spring immediately to mind...the Who circa 74 would've been awesome...Be Bop Deluxe...but having loosely discussed this subject with some mates, I'd stated that having control over a time machine the first thing I'd do is go back and relive the majority of gigs that I'd seen but been way too wasted to totally recall with any clarity...it was agreed that we must've, in our time, seen some f**kin awesome gigs but couldn't remember them....the folly of youth or being way too familiar with illegal substances...same thing hahaha
ReplyDeleteGood point. I saw Led Zep but wouldn't mind re-doing it more straight
DeleteI'm with you on that Hawkwind era(s), others would be Motorhead in their 1980 tour that produced No Sleep 'til Hammersmith.
ReplyDeleteAlso early '70s Led Zeppelin and any B.O.C. laser light show in the seventies.
You're such a rocker!
DeleteI just wouldn't say to my friend : well we'll go next time to see Rory Gallagher in concert.and then there was never a next time.
ReplyDeleteI once had tickets to see Stevie Ray Vaughn. He was ill and it was rescheduled. Then he died so it didn't happen. Never saw Stevie play. :(
DeleteSinatra in his prime, during the Rat Pack era. That would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteInteresting choice
