Tiger
Goin' Down Laughing 1976
Reposted from June 2022
This is a newly compressed mp3 version of a vinyl rip.
Don't think it has ever been released on CD.
Tiger were fronted by guitar supremo Big Jim Sullivan.
Sullivan was a stunning musician who performed
on around 750 charting singles over his career,
including 54 UK number one hits. (it says on wiki)
I remember him having a spot on a kids TV show
in the 70s where he showed us a few guitar tips.
His nick-name dates back to the 60s
when there were two in-demand session guitarists:
Big Jim and Little Jim (Jimmy Page).
Tiger toured as openers for Hawkwind in 76.
Pass me the keys to the time machine!
If the last track was by, I dunno, let's say David Coverdale
it would be considered a classic rock anthem.
The riff on the first track is really hard to play,
it requires disciplined plectrum control
while the fretboard moves go in an awkward direction.
Maybe that's just my poor technique.
Jim played guitar on Benny Hill's prog-rock epic 'Ernie'.

DeleteThank you so much Titus. What I remember - and looked forward to each week - were the segments during the This is Tom Jones show that had Tom and Big Jim sitting together going at it.
Deleteyeah the Tom Jones era was another notable time for Jim
