Hawkwind
QUARK 1977
I've seen these tracks listed variously as:
Stone Henge free festival June 21st 1977
Queensway Hall, Dunstable September 28th 1977
De Montford Hall, Leicester September 29th 1977
New Theatre, Oxford September 30th 1977
It could be any of them
or a mix of them
or none of them at all.
According to setlist FM
'Quark' was not played at any of those gigs
and so was difficult to place contiuity-wise.
I miss Uncle Bob
This has all been lovingly remastered and reassembled
into what I think is a resonable running order.
Check it out through headphones,
'twill blow your mind!
Adrian Shaw is brilliant.
This is my favourite Hawkwind line-up
and this is my favourite Hawkwind album.
(maybe)
It was the norm during 'Wind of Change'
for a film to be projected over the band.
Rudimentary graphic art showing a seed maturing into a tree.
Eventually houses would appear, then skyscrapers.
The tree became a lone emblem of nature
in a courtyard between corprate tower blocks.
Then came the downfall of humanity,
maybe war, (I forget) but the buildings crumble
and with the passiage of time only our humble tree remains.
Pretty cool.
(well it entertained the acid heads)
regards
Titus

Hawkwind are great, I've been listening to Hawkbinge, an excellent podcast in which every episode is dedicated to an album. I think they are now discussing the early 80's records.
ReplyDeleteYou can also find lots of their recordings on the fb page HAWKWIND And Related Album History.
My preferred Hawk era is Lemmy's period :)
I was reading about the annual Hawkfest they do. Apparently this will be the last one. Guessing Brock is nearing retirement. Lemmy not as good as Adrian :)
Deletethis a beauty titus! thank you for sharing.

DeleteThanks Titus, I used to have some of these tracks on one of the 'Weird Tapes'.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, don't know iof those are still available
DeleteNo idea, I think my old tape has been lost or chewed up, but to hear this whole concert is great, a favorite era, thanks.
DeleteHave you checked out the Cardiacs post? You're one of the few people I know who likes them
DeleteHi Titus, thanks I gave it a quick listen, but haven't heard it all yet, bit busy atm.
DeleteHere's a bit of their show at R-Fest five days ago, very nice:
