Jon Anderson & Animation
Convention Hall
Asbury Park, New Jersey, USA
August 6th 1982

I've heard a few recordings from this tour.
Mostly poor quality audience captures.
This one is a pre-FM/KBFH thing.
You see it around in various (sometimes incomplete) forms.
Anyway, this is from a Japanese bootleg and is the whole show.
I think it is compiled from at least two diifferent sources .
It's now 'sledgehammer' remastered to death!
Sounds great through headphones.
(He's only heard it through headphones...Ed.)
There are a few gaps in 'Surrender'.
I tried removing them but it just made the tempo go off kilter
which sounded even worse.
It's only a few seconds that are affected.
Here's a zoomed-in example of the gaps:

Other than that (and I'm being very picky) it's fairly good.
Probably be banned on those trading sites.
They'd have an epileptic fit if they saw the waveforms.
Here on TLD we use our ears not our eyes...right?
My cat has three legs...beat that!
Great to hear 'Mr. Cairo' played.
It's a brilliant Jon & Vangelis piece
which I got into via the 'Tales from the Tiger Moth' podcasts.
Of course it's tempting to be drawn to the Yes songs
but this band are good in their own right.
David Sancious is very talented
and David 'Clem' Clempson is a legendary guitarist.
They are well rehearsed. That is the secret.
Trust me...I'm a Doctor.
regards
Titus

  1. hanks titus, yes i've only heard bad recordings of this show, so looking forward to ths one. i use the eyes to get a pre-listen impression but the ears always get the final say ;0]
yesm was a god band/show. i saw the palladium show a few days later (oh, and talk about venues missed, this historic theatre was razed to build college dorms!)
you didn't mention the italian bassist in the group so i will: during his solo late in the set a guy next to me was yelling "you're God, you're God!"...he was good but fan may have felt that way about anyone capturing his attention at a given moment !

  2. Thanks for this one. I have this one for some time now and never took the time to give it a correct listen. Will do now and check the Surrender gaps.
