Montrose
L'Olympia Bruno Coquatrix
Paris, France
February 1st 1975

Montrose toured Europe in 1975 as part of a Warner Brothers package
which included Tower of Power, Little Feat and The Doobie Brothers.
Quite a line-up for what I guess was just a few Francs.
I believe Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter twated Ronnie Montrose in the Green Room.
(Titus is a liar...Ed.)
There was an interview I recall with Sammy Hagar in the late 70s.
He had teenage kids and was asked what they thought of having a 'Rock Star' Dad.
"They think I'm shit, they're into KISS" was approximately his reply.
One sees this recording/parts of it circulated in various forms.
It's always a bit murky.
I took my best version and remastered it (Yawn...Ed.)
Hey, I did my best. Now it's slightly less murky.
Bassist Alan Fitzgerald dominates the sound.
However, trying to quell him any more than I did screwed up the overall balance.
Kinda nice to hear the buzz from (I suspect) Ronnie's amp.
So not the greatest quality on this recording
but it's OK after a whisKy or two if you play it loud.
regards
Titus

  1. Skunk Baxter is no stranger to ballistic issues. He has been, and may still be, an advisor to the US Govt on missile defence technology. Weird but true.

  3. I recall reading a similar interview with Hagar from the early 80's where he was bemoaning the fact that his teenage kids thought he was a has-been & he said they were really into The B-52s.
