Pink Floyd
Concertgebouw
Amsterdam, Netherlands
September 17th 1969
This is the complete raw pre-FM soundboard untouched by me.
I'm sometimes hesitant with these early Floyd recordings.
It feels like you're treading on hallowed ground if you over-remaster.
(never stopped you before...Ed.)
Anyway... I decided to leave this one alone.
Having said that, every version circulated has, almost certainly,
been through numerous reworks/transfers.
This one is a bit rough around the edges at times
but for fans of their early stuff it's essential listening.
I guess you had to be there for 'Teatime'.
(I assume they're having a brew?)
Excruciating Dave Gilmour vocals on 'The Narrow Way' :)
In case you don't know: the Man & the Journey was a 'suite'
which has some familiar songs (retitled) mixed with other parts.
I am Roger waters' brother.

There must be dozens of this recording around that were reworked, cleaned, remastered. I have two different versions on my shelves and they sound very good for a recording back to those days. The tea time is not the best piece of music of this ensemble but well, who dares to do this nowadays during a concert ? Don't know but haven't seen Taylor Swift's latest so can't be sure.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing...I took a break from listening music and decided to watch a 1973 documentary series...The Ascent of Man. The background music is mostly early Floyd!
