Harry Chapin
Wollman Rink
Central Park, New York City
August 23rd 1978

Remastered FM broadcast.
I really enjoyed doing this one.
Warren Zevon, Billy Joel and Malvina Reynolds all crossed my mind.
Harry was someone who tried to make a difference.
If you don't know his work I'd recommend this as an introduction.
regards
Titus

  1. I like Warren Zevon, I don't appreciate Billy Joel and I don't know who is Malvina Reynolds. At your suggestion, I will try this one. Never heard of Harry Chapin. Never too late to discover some new teenage rock'n'roll band.
    Greetings from rainy Paris,

    1. Billy was great in the 70s and you must have heard Malvina's Little Boxes!

  2. thanks for this titus. brings back memories on several levels: cat's in the cradle was a huge (and unusually thought-provoking) hit when i was growing up, WNEW was a fantastic station that provided so many live broadcasts, and had so many great on-air personalities during a time when 'classic' rock and the emerging new wave were presented on the same station, and woven together as part of the living history of rock music. and i caught a peter gabriel at that beautiful venue in 1980 - before the summer live concert series moved to Pier 84, a beautiful venue one inside, but alongside an abandoned and rusty elevated highway, and a then putrid hudson river.

    1. We never really had radio like the States in terms of dedicated rock stations. Keep the Hudson clean!
