KISS
Gaumont Theatre
Ipswich, England
October 11th-1984

Remastered FM.
With the fabulous Bruce Kulick on lead guitar.
I usually view Paul's intros as kitsch-dumb
but here they are just cringeworthy and misogynist.
Shame he thinks that's a good idea.
regards
Titus

  1. Yep, Paul's stage raps reached the height of their raunchiness in 1984. I think Paul was trying to capture the sleazy vibe of the hair metal bands, but he was a little too old to understand it, so he just dialed up the raunch, and it is pretty awkward to listen to. Mark St. John was still the lead guitarist when this gig was played. I know Bruce Kulick filled in for him at several shows before he was let go from the band. Is this one of those? Thanks for the share!

    1. It is Kulick. Mark had issues with his hand...arthritis. On November 27 Mark St. John finally made his live debut with the band at a concert in Baltimore. "While Bruce played the first part of the show, Mark came on to play the rest of the set. Not surprisingly, Mark's playing was not smooth".

  2. Thanks, Titus. The night after the Baltimore show, they played at the Mid Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. That show was officially released. St. John sounds good, but nothing special. Bruce Kulick was awesome in Kiss. I think he cares more about the musical aspect of Kiss than Gene and Paul do. He doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves for his contributions to that band.

    1. I thought Bruce was too 'quiet' for KISS. He was not a poser by nature. I'll post another recortding from the 84 UK tour soon.
