Genesis
Moody Coliseum
Dallas, Texas
March 19th 1977
Remastered soundboard.
Oddly recorded.
The mics are picking up very little crowd noise.
This may be why there is such a difference between the louder/quieter parts
I made some efforts to mitigate this issue
but the ambience is actually quite nice so I didn't go too far.
The stifled Texan mob being unable to disturb proceedings helped.
Hackett plays some strange stuff and sounds, at times,
like he's in a three-way battle for volume dominance with Banks & Rutherford.
It makes for an interesting 'Supper's Ready'
and check out the chaotic 'Quiet Earth'.
From the opening note it bodes ill :)
but the 'Tony Iommi' riff section (as I call it) rocks!

Titus

ReplyDeleteand a volume-assertive hackett is always welcome here.
i like the iommi ref. VH-1 did a documentary on metal maybe 15yrs back that gave hackett credit for his hammering and contribution to heavy guitar music.

This TL remaster will be mostly welcome. I have this concert on a shelf somewhere, so it's Sunday morning clock time to dust off the loudspeakers and play it loud.
