Progglådan Box B: CD 205
Instrumentala, Experimentella, Urproggare samt Punk
Made in Sweden/Hansson & Karlsson

Made in Sweden was a Swedish jazz-rock supergroup active from 1968 to 1977.
Their first album, Made in Sweden (with Love) (1968), was a hit in Sweden
and was nominated for a Grammy.
They won the Swedish Grammis for Best Band in 1969 and 1970.
The band was closely associated with the Stockholm music venue 'Gyllene Cirkeln'
and recorded a live album there (Live! At the Golden Circle) in 1970.

This is decent jazzy stuff with an interesting take on The Beatles song.

Hansson & Karlsson was a Swedish duo
consisting of Bo Hansson (organ) and Janne Carlsson (drums)
The name Carlsson being written with a K
was initially just a mis-print in an early poster.
(both spellings being common in Swedish).
The band was active in the last few years of the 1960s
and played instrumental jazz fusion, largely based on improvisation
and are considered one of the pioneers of progressive rock.
Hansson and Carlsson played a few times with Jimi Hendrix in Stockholm
and Hendrix recorded the Hansson & Karlsson piece 'Tax Free'.
After a few years the duo split.
Hansson continued his musical career whereas Carlsson focused on acting.

Bo is probably one of the better known Swedish musicians.
I was a bit worried by the opening track.
Halfway between Green Onions and Blackpool Tower?
The second tune is more diverse and really good.
They close with a slow blues/shuffle...again with that Tower sound!
See you at the Blackpool hallucinations.
regards
Titus
