Magma
Newport Jazz Festival
Philharmonic Hall
New York City
July 7th 1973
Slightly tweaked soundboard.
Medium quality.
Looks like it has been mp3 in a previous incarnation.
One of the very few French outfits who made an impact.
Magma are the brainchild of drummer Christian Vander
who is a somewhat controversial figure.
He invented Kobaian, a language which is the basis of the 'lyrics'.
Some people think the sun shines out of his arse.
Vander's particular take on prog/jazz/fusion, known as 'Zeuhl',
has now become a recognised genre in itself.
