Robin Trower
George's
San Rafael, CA.
January 27th 1988

Remastered FM.
Sound quality-wise I rate it a medium.
Like it was recorded in a cave.
The venue/cave was closed down in 2023,
"officials" declaring it a public nuisance apparently.
regards
Titus

  1. Not forgetting that some of the most historical music was recorded in cave environments (ie. The Cavern Club), I'm happy to listen to this one from Ol' Fish Fac. Thanks for the share Titus. Cheers from Down Under AR2

  2. I just discovered this recording through AussieRock's site that didn't mention the cave-like medium sound. He considers it as : "This is probably one of the best soundboard recordings I have heard and almost out does his earlier commercially released live material on 'Trower Live!' and 'Beyond The Mist'."
At first listen, the quality seems to be better than medium. Will burn it to CD and give it a serious audiophile listening experience.
Anyhow, how strange are we with our hearing judgement ? Strangely there is no official scientific scale on audio quality of a recording. The basic scale Excellent, VG, G, Fair, Poor does not seem to work. It depends if you are a big big fan of the band or not and a lot more other aspects such as playing loud or on a good equipment or with some equalizing, etc.
Thanks for this interesting share, and
    As usual, greetings from Paris,

    1. There are so many aspects to 'sound quality' and it is very subjective. I find myself more comfortable doing music I am more familiar with. What might be "too much bass" for many recordings can be exactly what fans want/expect if you're doing Yes. As a more basic approach I consider 70s Floyd albums to be something of a benchmark for quality despite them being 50 years old now.

  3. I have refreshed the link on this one in case anybody wishes to compare it with the draftvol version as shared by AussieRock
