Scorpions
Zur Grille
Minden, Germany
April 19th 1973

Remastered audience recording.
This is not the best quality, as you may rightly suspect,
but it's historical value is unquestionable.
There seems to be a power outage in the middle of Far Away.
They were opening for Eloy & UFO.
The talented, 18 year old, Michael Schenker
was soon to be poached by the latter.
It was a difficult period for Scorpions due to an unstable line-up.
Following their debut album 'Lonesome Crow'
drummer Wolfgang Dziony had left the band.
He was replaced in 1972 by Werner Löhr.
Later that year, American, Joe Wyman took the drumstool.
BTW He was driving the van when the brakes failed
(resultant damage shown on the inner cover)
Wyman quit and returned to the States in December
because they couldn't or wouldn't ever pay him.
Scorps, allegedly, held his kit to ransom to prevent him leaving
but he went anyway so they effectively stole his drums!
Helmut Eisenhut took over at the start of 1973
and was dead by the summer.
Next up was Hal Fingerhood
..It's a bit like Spın̈al Tap.
I won't go into the bass players they went through.
(Thank goodness...Ed.)
regards
Titus
