Judas Priest
Sin After Sin (1977)
This is my remastered copy.
I used a vinyl rip of 'Starbreaker' because I hate the CD version.
They "fixed" the INTENTIONAL drop-out.
Made my blood boil!
In my youth, at my local rock emporium,
I would request 'Let Us Prey/Call for the Priest'
as those less popular tunes allowed me more space on the dancefloor
to do my Whirling Dervish/air guitar thing.
Produced by Roger Glover and with the fabulous Simon Phillips on drums
it remains a classic.
regards
Titus

Always my fav'LP from the Priest. Thanks for this remaster.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I asked AI Copilot about this : The “intentional drop-out” in Starbreaker by Judas Priest refers to a moment in the original vinyl release of the 1977 album Sin After Sin where the sound briefly cuts out—likely as a deliberate production choice to add drama or tension. It’s a subtle effect, but fans who grew up with the vinyl version often remember it fondly.
ReplyDeleteWhen the album was remastered for CD, that drop-out was “fixed,” meaning the sound was smoothed over or restored to continuous playback. Some listeners, like the blogger Titus Luxor, felt this change removed a bit of the track’s character. It’s a classic case of remastering decisions sparking debate among purists and audiophiles.
Crazy isn't it? What if I write Titus is a blogger who brings good luck to anyone who sends him money? :)
Deleteyou just did! let's see ;0]

Yeah, it is a test...it probably says I am a money grabbing scammer now! :) I've been dabbling in AI art generation. Only scratched the surface but 'graphic artist' is a job of the past. It will out-blog me soon and I'll be redundant.
Deletenot a chance. AI can't capture the pre-internet world that formed the musical histories, tastes and life experiences and resultant wit of those who preceded this digital era.
Delete(without a doubt it will try to fake it though!)

AI will remaster everything perfectly. Every glitch and drop-out will be fixed. It can replace any missing parts by analysing every version ever recorded . It will create great CD covers as it has seen every photo ever posted and is aware that YES covers should be Roger Dean style and Stranglers should be a bit more stark. Then it will add text "in the style of Titus Luxor".
DeleteWould I be able to resist for a long time if an AI would be able to create a new 10 track album from the band Nazareth with the voice of Dan Mc Cafferty and yes, please add Zal Cleminson on guitars too ? I don't give myself more than a minute... but guess I would be disappointed in the end. No heart yet for the time being in AI music.
ReplyDeleteI heard an AI generated tune recently. It was pop music but sounded good and lots of people were into it. Kraftwerk don't "do" anything but I managed to get over that. If it's good it''s good!
DeleteWell yeah, and then comes the amazing Velvet Sundown... Is it good or not... Will they or it grow better and better ? Frightening isn't it ?
ReplyDeleteNot as frightening as the widely held view that once AI realises how pointless we are it may decide to get rid of us.
DeleteHumans are mortal. We traditionally venerate immortal Gods. AI is immortal. We need to convince it that our mortality is God-like.
ReplyDeleteperhaps we can start this process by treating all mortal humans as valued and worthy members of a healthy and functioning human society. ditto for the rest of the living things on 'god's' earth.
ReplyDeletenow THAT's a task!
