Bear with me on this one. It's a bit rambling.
First off, well done to all Americans
who took part in or supported the 'No Kings' protests.
That gives me some hope that all is not lost.
I was checking out the coverage and saw Bernie Sanders
and others speaking from behind a bullet proof perspex wall.

Those should be known as a "Kirk" (too soon?)
I'm sure they'll catch on in Europe.
It reminded me of the Popemobiles which were built
by British Leyland when I was an apprentice in the early 80s.

One day, me & my mate Roz sneaked inside one and smoked a joint.

At school we had a Van de Graaff generator.
A device that created an electrostatic charge.

If you touched it your hair would stand on end.
As the resident school long-haired hippy, the girls would insist
I was one of the Guinea pigs as it was much funnier if I did it.
Robert J. Van de Graaff's invention, of course, later inspired
the slightly modified VDGG band name.
By 1933 Robert had constructed a machine capable of generating 7 million volts
working together with his first PhD student John G. Trump:

John G's father Frederick, born and raised in Kallstadt, Germany,
had emigrated to the US in 1885 and by 1891 was speculating in real estate.
During the Klondike gold rush Frederick moved to Yukon
and made his fortune operating a restaurant and brothel for the miners in Whitehorse.
Along with his older brother, Fred, John had joined the family's real estate business.
Unfortunately one of Fred's sperm turned into a Donald.
More music tomorrow...I promise :)
regards
Titus
