Wishing you all a happy and safe bonfire night.
The tradition began as a celebration of the thwarted 'Gunpowder Plot'.
An attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605
concocted by this bunch of ne'er-do-wells:
Ringleader Ritchie Blackmore escaped without prosecution.
He must have pulled some strings (groan)
Many people, myself included, are more inclined to mourn the scheme's failure.
I remember a young nephew getting very upset
at the sight of Guy's tortured effigy atop the bonfire.
A reasonable first response when you think about it LOL.
Firework trivia...
Bangers and Jumping Jacks were banned in the UK in 1997.
It's Health & Safety gone MAD :)
regards
Titus
