We always had lots of seasonal decorations when I was growing up.
Paper streamers/things that unfolded into exotic shapes.
Cards on special strings with special little plastic pegs
to keep them in place. a tree of course and balloons!
When I was around 4 or 5 years old I was terrified by 'Rover'.
Rover was the guard/sentry featured in 'The Prisoner' TV series.
Just a big white balloon really...but the fucker could smother you!
At Christmas one of my older brothers would take great delight
in blowing up all the white balloons to their maximum size
which made me cry and earned him a clip 'round the ear from Dad.
