Flights of fancy...
"International tourist arrivals (overnight visitors) grew by 4% in 2025,
as most destinations worldwide posted solid results.
According to the first World Tourism Barometer of the year,
an estimated 1.52 billion international tourists
were recorded globally in 2025, almost 60 million more than in 2024.
The US experienced a drop in foreign visitors (around 6%) and international spending,
making it an outlier among nations seeing global tourism booms.
Perceived 'America First' policies, tariffs, and increased border scrutiny
negatively affected traveller confidence, particularly from Canada, Europe, and Asia.
Tourism from Denmark to the USA experienced a significant decline in 2025,
with figures dropping by approximately 19% to 25% compared to 2024.
Canadian travel to the US in 2025 dropped significantly,
with an estimated 22.9 million trips, a 28% decrease from 31.9 million in 2024.
International visitor spending in the United States
is projected to drop to approximately $169 billion in 2025,
a significant $12 billion decrease from $181 billion in 2024."
