Having previously written about aircraft carriers

let's take a look at that alpha-male weapon the nuclear submarine.

Unlike surface vessels they never tell you where they are.

Wonder how many are in the middle east right now?

It's quite difficult to get solid believable stats

or to determine which are nuclear powered and/or nuclear armed.

I guess this is shrouded in secrecy and they're all probably lying anyway.

That said here's a rough idea:

Six countries currently operate nuclear-powered submarines:

China (11)

France (10)

UK (10)

India (2)

Australia, South Korea and Iran all have plans to join the club.

Thought for the day:

Iran should change it's name back to Persia.

Much more romantic sounding.

It's all about optics right?
