The Fab Four?
They are far from the only distasteful world leaders but I found myself thinking
how much better it would be if these four were even half-decent people.
Too much to ask for them to have a go at being universally admired and respected obviously.

  1. Your thoughts are mine too. I'm just wondering if..., since Roman times, there has been a decade or two, let's say a plain 20 years, where the four most powerful kings, emperors, presidents, monarchs, princes, prime minister or you name it, whomever representing the people, where they were not at war, committing crimes against civilians, invading countries, stealing land, just 20 year in history ???

    1. I think you're being more than generous with your 20 year estimation Derek! :) AI says: It is highly unlikely there has been a single calendar year in recorded human history completely free from war or large-scale armed conflict. Throughout 3,400 years, estimates suggest only roughly 268 years—less than 8% of recorded time—have been entirely without war.

  2. I've had similar thoughts in the last few years: lots of people put their faith and trust in Donald Trump (some of them good people, others, not so good), thinking he was different from all the 'leaders' that came before him, a champion for good versus evil etc... What a huge disappointment he is for America and for humanity in general (why am I even surprised?). He (and the other three) could have done so much for the world. What wasted opportunities! Shame on them all!

How much longer are we going to fool ourselves that there is any politician/public official on the planet that's going to do the right thing and do what's best for the people? The funny thing is though, that all these fools, despite their wealth, power and vanity, they still don't seem to realise that they too are eventually going to die like the rest of us 'peasants'. So what was the point?

    1. As Douglas Adams suggested, the best person to be in charge is someone who doesn't want to do it and has nothing to gain.
