Never heard of the "86" thing before.
I'm still recovering from that bloody 6-7 BS.

I like this photo which leaves little to the imagination as to what Charlie thinks of Donald:

A mixture of pity and loathing is how I'd describe that look :)
300% pity and 1200% loathing in Trump-math.
I'm no fan of the Royals but I have to concede
King Chaz v.3.0 did a good job in his speech to the US congress.
His command of language and reason being in stark contrast
to what usually emanates from that woeful building.
regards
Titus

  1. Agreed. Charles was not intimated by Donald at all. He bested him with the handshake dominance test Donald likes to do. He made several jokes that Donald laughed at but he didn't understand that they were directed at him. I vote it's the only visit Charles will make during this administration. He's probably glad to be done with it.

  5. I'm definitely not a fan of the royals and Charlie fat hands didn't even need to get his brain out of first gear to make an absolute c**t of the orange manchild but it hardly merits the fawning coverage tha't's been given... anyone who has a basic grip of language and thought can run rings round the current US administation.

    1. it speaks to nust how far the discourse has descended below the floor upon which it once stood. imagine oneself 20 years ago being transported to the present. beyond crazy-ass dystopic sci-fi believability. i imagine all of our brains have been altered by all of this.

    3. Fair point Softshoe. It's not ideal if we are relying on Charles but at least he spoke out. Maybe he is in a position to do so? Did you disagree with his basic themes? Environment/NATO/Ukraine etc?

    4. @Luxor, I didn't pay much attention to what the main points of his speech were. The only part that registered was his mocking mention of speaking French. Regarding his themes of the environment.. it takes quite a brass neck for him to lecture us on environmental concerns whilst being ferried from one fresh paint job to the next either in a Bentley, or such like, or flying in private jets seemingly oblivious to the environmental destruction that him and his family have inflicted on this planet for decades. Ukraine and it's continuing independence needs to be maintained by the whole of Europe, let's forget about America on that one. As far as NATO and the possibility of increasing our defence spending is concerned this needs to be done to protect us from the good old USA... rant over.. apologies for bending your ear & patience.

  6. The term "Eighty-Six" is from every restaurant I' ever worked. From my Bus Boy days in the mid 1970's in Florida to California in the '80's and New York. It has always meant "out of stock". You walk into the kitchen to pick up your table and one of the line cooks would inform you "Eighty-Six the Duck". done, simple effective way to communicate the Duck was gone for the evening. We did not direct to people, it doesn't mean to kill anyone. At least in my experience. LOL.

    1. I've never worked in such a job but here we just say the duck is off. As in off the menu not gone off...maybe 86 is better LOL but why 86 specifically?

  7. At least the US has an elected leader not the entitled scrounger Chuck. They might not have voted in the person you want but he is there democratically. The sooner we get four independent countries and a republic the better - NOT MY KING!

    1. I don't support royalty. You're right. they are entitled scroungers.
Chaz still spoke well in Washington though and I want the UK to stay together and rejoin the EU

    2. As you may have noticed we too have an elected 'leader'.. a Prime Minister or in the country that I reside in a First Minister. Whilst this doesn't offer the results that please everyone, that's democracy, it does allow us to have a say however futile that may be depending on which constituency you reside.. where I stay the same party are always returned at a GE or SE regardless of my vote. Saying that, our MSP is a good local champion... though I don't & never will vote for that persuasion. Four independent countries would be my preferred option also & like yourself he is NOT MY KING and never will be...republican to the core. Solidarity & Stand Free Comrades.

    3. @Titus, I'd beg to differ... with the inexplicable & unchecked rise of Reform in England it'd be utter madness for us Scots to continuously shackle ourselves to an increasingly vocal, visible and increasingly (though bafflingly) electable right wing strain that has infected, what seems like, a majority of the English electorate. Despite what the msm would have us believe this is not exclusively a working class phenomenon it just allows the middle class to absolve themselves of any moral responsibility whilst allowing the, imo, latent streak of racisim that underpins most of the learned classes world view to infect society at all levels and blame the great unwashed for all the woes that prevail.. a poison is running across England let's distance ourselves from it asap.

    4. Will your independant Scotland be rejoining the EU? Asking for a friend :)

    5. That would be be up to the electorate but I'd definitely be in favour of immediate closer ties followed by full membership if that was what the EU wanted.

    6. Interesting. Would you have the Euro?

      Delete
    7. Apparently we'd be forced down that road whether we chose to or not... the masters at Westminster already made that quite clear during the lead up to the 2014 referendum, Sterling would be there's and there's alone to withhold.. we'd have no say in the matter... democracy eh !!!

    8. I would definitely have the Euro and would definitely vote to rejoin the EU. An independent Wales has to be the first aim though

    10. @luxor, apologies for the spelling error but poor grammar aside that shouldn't detract from the point I was making.

    11. No, not the only one - in fact, I fear that you are in the majority. Myself, I prefer to look at the vile affect it has had on my country and the related right wing government that has gone with it. Wales and Scotland have never voted right wing in election history and yet both are given nothing more than left overs. Titus - if you are English, you probably don't see it. I have no anti English bone in my body BUT we do not deserve to be treated like this by a government that pretends to represent us all.

  8. Origin of the term "Eighty-Six" - " The most historically verifiable origin for 86’d comes from Delmonico’s, the first restaurant in New York City, in the 1830’s. (The restaurant opened in 1834) There were over 300 entrees on the menu and the 86th item was the Delmonico Steak (a ribeye steak). It was so popular that it was almost always sold out and over time 86 came to mean that something was sold out." Every Kitchen I worked cited this as a source. Lots of other theories floating around as well.
