I wanted to post this quite soon as I see it as a companion
piece to the recent Charlie Watts edition.
It's Sir Keith Richards.
Now I'm not a big Stones fan
but I think Keef is a crucial link between all our diverse tastes.
A friend of mine once described bland radio shit as
"music for people who are not into music"
Have you ever been at work maybe and wished they would turn
the radio off? Oh you're not into music?
NO...it is precisely because I AM into music!
I think most visitors here are into music.
You may lean towards Genesis or The Clash
or even yearn for the obscure/avant stuff.
But we are all into music and Keef kind of exemplifies that.
Music for people who are into music.
Available for free here on TLD.

Titus
I've thought of that many times. I used to work in a radio station whose slogan was something like 'for those who like music'. Now as it was a pop oriented station with a rigid playlist I rarely found music that I liked played there. And yet I love music!
ReplyDeleteEven if you tune into the odd "rock" station here you quickly stop listening after the 20th play of The Reaper and I know we both love BOC but there is no song by ANY band I want to hear 6 times a day
ReplyDeleteI'm curious, do you hear Planet Rock? I don't think they repeat songs that much and got some nice shows, as the Blues Power, Joe Elliot, Alice Cooper, etc.
ReplyDeleteHave heard a few but not a regular listener
ReplyDeleteWhen in my car, there's only one worthy radio station in the world that's FIP France : never a present day hit song, never an advertisement, never a well commercial song, they will always play an obscure Blondie song, then Stan Getz, then a Salvadorian folk song, then a classical string adagio concerto and more and more... In an hour of listening, there's always a song that will totally amaze you. And FIP radio has the best HIFI uncompressed sound in the airwaves compared to all commercial radio station that compress music like shit. FIP can be followed on the internet. www.fip.fr Have a try and enjoy. They are totally incredible. Such radio station doesn't exist, to my knowledge, anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. though i doubt i can pick it up in my car. Will have a look though. Thanks Derek
