Aphrodite's Child
Lille, France
1968

Amazing footage of this Greek phenomenon.
And yes...it's in Lille!
Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou - keyboards
Anargyros "Silver" Koulouris - guitar
Loukas "Lucas" Sideras - drums
Artemios "Demis" Ventouris-Roussos - bass & lead vocals
(roll call at Greek schools must have taken an eternity)
Guitarist Koulouris was not present during this period
as he was obliged to do national service.
Upon his return in 1970 they recorded their masterpiece '666'
which, in my opinion, is one of the greatest albums of all time.

  1. It's nice from you to please me (and other people of course). I don't know well this group, except of course Demis Roussos, who was well known in the 70's(we saw him often on TV shows). Thank you!

  2. Thanks for the comments Ray. Demis was a regular on TV here too in the 70s. Was a huge hit with middle aged women for some reason.

    4. 666 is amazing though and he never equalled it. I have a book I kept as a kid. Covers 76 to 79 ish. A notebook with all the details of every record I bought. Purchased 666 April 22nd 1977. It was £4.75

  6. Hey Ray, there is a taper who goes by the name of Lylian. I believe he/she is from Lille. Does some good stuff and I have used some of the recordings. Wondered if you knew the name?
