Rory Gallagher
Lille 1975 DVD

A young looking Rory heads over to France
for a half-hour solo acoustic spot on TV.
Some cool stuff on le slide guitar.
Another creaky VHS rip but very nice
and Rory gets to sit on lots of different things.
Sacre bleu!

  1. Thanks for this video! I live in Lille and saw Rory Gallagher in concert in 1994 in this town. I read somewhere (maybe in Noel Cogghe's book) that he loved Lille and would have liked to live here.

  2. Thanks Anonymous...er...you work for the Lille tourism authority right?;)

  3. I like your sense of humour! No, I don't work for the tourist office but it would have been a great honour to live in the same place.
I've misspelled the author's name, it's Jean-Noël Coghe (and I don't work for him neither...)

I saw Rory way back '76 in my hometown, not bad for a first concert in my life. Still like him, a true legend.

    1. Was it a solo or band gig?

It was a band gig. As i remember they promoted the great "Calling Card" record which wasn't released so far. Still like that album (especially on vinyl).

  6. Yes Lille (aka as Rijsel in Flemish language for those interested in language distortions) is a real nice city to travel to for a week-end. To travel to ? Hey, what does that mean in nowadays days ????
Thanks anyway for the RG video !

  7. Rijsel is Dutch. West Flemish is Rysel...according to wiki

    1. My mothertongue is indeed West Flemish but officially you dont write it for instance on signboards across the road. So therefor, when you travel from Bruges (Brugge in Dutch/Flemish) you might have signboards indicating direction to Rijsel and if your intending to go to Lille, you had trouble to find your way in pre-GPS days... Anyway, that's strange discussion here on a Rory Gallagher topic :) I'm gonna watch the film now. Do we say film or movie ????

    2. Movie is too American sounding for me but either is fine I guess. Good to go off-topic in my opinion. Cheers Derek

  8. Nice video indeed! It's Rijsel all right (I think that in Rysel, the 'y' is equivalent to 'ij' melt together (in old texts, there are two dots above the 'y' (the dots from 'i' and 'j')).
Some 1976 bootlegs from Gallagher on https://www.guitars101.com/ !
