I wanted to write somthing about the 'covid gap'.
I had loads of things booked as I always do.
We have a year planner and it is usually full.
Not just gigs, but other travel.
It was a six month battle to get my money back.
Some paid up immediately, no problem.
Had to use a Swiss onbudsman to get my money back from Swissair.
Was staying in two Swiss hotels.
One refunded the money, the other said no way.
So I emailed them saying I had Covid symptoms
but if they were happy to accept me I would see them shortly.
The money was refunded. LOL
For some gigs I kept hold of the tickets.
They have been rescheduled up to three times now.
It's really screwed me up because what was:
"hey lets go to the gig in Land's End.
It's a Saturday in July, we can stay for a couple of days"
turned into "shit, it's now a Wednesday in November".
Plus I started to wonder if Steve Howe/Nick Mason/Eric Bloom etc.
would actually be fit enough/still alive.
Or if some of the ticket holders would be fit enough/still alive.
At the Hackett gig. I overheard the people behind me talking before the show.
They didn't know each other and there was an empty seat between them.
They were talking about how long ago it was they bought tickets
and how it seemed like it might never happen
when one of them said:
"yeah, the guy who was supposed to be sitting there died in May".
That made me notice a few other vacant seats around me.
Not all dead I hope/assume but maybe ill or worried about covid?
Or just couldn't make it now it was a Friday in October!
The two BOC gigs I have tickets for are now October 2022.
Dates and venues are nowhere near as good for me as the original plan,
But hey, it's BOC so I will try my best to be there.
I want Bloom on a strict vitamin supplement course!
regards
Titus
I usually go to loads of gigs too, but have noticed some people are still reluctant to be so close to strangers. I've decided to go on my own (spur of the moment) and won't try to persuade people to come along too.
ReplyDeleteOne of my friends went on a rescheduled cruise last week, the poor thing hadn't had a holiday for 2 years!, and he's used to 6 foreign holidays a year :-)
On the plus side I've saved a lot of money over the last 18 months!
