The Who
Grugahalle
Essen, Germany
March 28th 1981
This is a well known FM/rockpalast recording
and there are various versions of it around.
I didn't remaster this as such but it is my re-tracked
edition of probably the best and most complete broadcast so, hopefully,
it flows a little better now with smoother transitions between tracks.
I know Chris Squier cited John Entwistle as an influence
and the playing here on 'Substitute' immediately brought Chris to mind.
We're told they are opening for The Grateful Dead.

why is that
I'm not into TGD and it seemed wrong for The Who to play first.Although I don't know the circumstances of the occasion. Just teasing any deadhead out there really :)
