Rick Wakeman
The Palladium
London
February 22nd 2023

Reposted from August 2023

In February Rick played four different sets,
over the course of two nights, at the Palladium in London.
(last time I was there they charged me an arm and a leg for a small wine
which was served in a bloody plastic cup...just sayin')
...now where was I?...Oh yeah...here is the first set which I've tarted up a bit as usual.
I've only heard it through headphones.
Might sound shit through your speakers :)
I grew up with Six Wives (the album, the wives came later)
but I always felt it had some dull moments.
OK, I concede, the killer riff in Catherine Parr is a show-stopper.
It sounds better in chronological order IMO (which Rick mentions in the intro)
No Earthly Connection is my favourite Wakeman album...and he never does that one!
regards
Titus

Set 1
The Six Wives of Henry VIII

01 intro
02 Catherine of Aragon
03 Anne Boleyn
04 Jane Seymour
05 Anne of Cleeves

  1. Oh, Titus, I have a favor to ask of you...
Could you PLEASE give this one a boost? You've got me on a mission now. LoL!
This is my request for the day.
    Peace

  2. Six Wives has always been a big favourite Wakemen album of mine - it really showcased his classical training and was so refreshing to hear in comparison to his 'symphonic rock' material with Yes.
Listening to 'No Earthly Connection' as I write this - not one that I really paid much attention to when it was released so I'll give it another go. Thanks for bringing this live rendition back to life mate. AR2
