New Musical Express
Readers' poll winners concert
Wembley Empire Pool. London
April 11th 1965

Remastered broadcast.
Sound quality varies but it's generally good given the vintage.
Too many bloody tracks! so I split it into segments.
I've read the Kinks arrived late in the day
and consequently played after, official headliners, The Beatles.
They are by far the worst act and sound shit-faced.
Sounds Incorporated are brill. Proto prog fusion?
and versatile...check how they effortlessly handle Cilla's set
and The Echo are also unsung heroes.
These are often interesting musicians to research.
Warning:
"Britain's top DJ" Jimmy Saville is one of the comperes.
regards
Titus

  1. Sounds interesting, I'll have a copy! Love this old radio stuff.

  2. Dusty Springfield tackles "Mockingbird" on side 2 backed by the Echoes. Another example of one band backing another to good effect.
